  • Step 2. The stone: Let us help you with the options available for the stone, identifying general pricing for the different options for stones from dealers everywhere! Technology allows us to share vivid images of the stone options wherever you live.
You will need to decide the Shape of the Stone(s) you want:

Then you will need to consider the carat weight of the stone(s) that interest you.
And if you are interested in Diamonds, you will need to know the color of your desired Diamonds. Diamonds come in a variety of colors. It is actually rare to find a colorless Diamond. At Resa Royale, we prefer to work with GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certified Diamonds. GIA Diamonds have undergone a rigorous grading process and at the end of that process, a report “certificate” is provided to you that documents the characteristics of your Diamonds.

The highest GIA color grading for a Diamond is D. (There are no A, B or Cs for the GIA Color Grading Scale). If a Diamond has a D, E or F GIA color grading, it will be a colorless Diamond. Diamonds that are graded by GIA as G through J are Nearly Colorless. Diamonds that GIA color graded as K through M have a Faint Yellow coloring. Diamonds that are N through R on the GIA color grading scale are Very Light Yellow in color. Those Diamonds that are GIA color graded S through Z are Light Yellow Diamonds. Diamonds with a stronger yellow color are graded as Fancy Light, Fancy and Fancy Intense. This “Fancy” GIA color grading may be preferred for colored Diamonds that are yellow.

Now, you will need to select the clarity grading for your Diamond. The GIA Clarity Grading Scale is as follows: Flawless (an Internally Flawless Diamond); VVS1 and VVS2 (GIA highly graded Diamonds that are Very, Very Slightly Included); VS1 and VS2 (GIA preferred graded Diamonds, noting that the Diamonds are Very Slightly Included); SI1 and SI2 (GIA notes that these Diamonds are Slightly Included. These inclusions may be visible to the eye). A GIA clarity grading of I1, I2 and I3 means that these are Imperfect Diamonds.

Diamonds are also graded by Cut. An “ideal” cut means that the Diamonds exhibit a maximum combination of dispersion (spectral colors) and brilliance (white light). These Diamonds will have a premium value. Good Cut Diamonds have a proper balance of light dispersion and brilliance. A Fair Cut Diamond has moderate departures from preferred proportions. This means that there might be a slight to moderate reduction in the Diamond’s value. Then there are Poor Cut Diamonds, which means that there is a substantial departure from standards leading to major value reductions.

If you are interested in Colored Gemstones, a different kind of grading applies. Let us know what interests you and we can help you to select the best stone for your Dreams.
